As an Application Engineer, you will join a team of technical experts in the industry. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the firm's Document Management System (DMS) and Records Management System (RMS). You will also provide secondary technical support for the Accounting Systems and provide technical support and influence on other multi-tiered and major business applications in use within the Firm. You will act as an expert for designated applications to ensure that the Firm is demonstrating tools within its applications portfolio and you will serve as the “application guide” when upgrades or improvements of the application are considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as a technical guide for assigned applications including DMS, RMS, data and integration systems and other assigned multi-tiered applications.
Responsible for application lifecycle management across the full application portfolio (design and architecture, technical documentation, testing, deploy, maintain, retire)
Maintains awareness of technology developments and makes recommendations to the Enterprise
Assumes ownership of level 3 support and troubleshooting of assigned applications.
Assists in evaluating the business relevance and requirements of applications and upgrades under consideration.
Provide a resource for the design, build and updates of SQL with knowledge of SQL queries, SQL SSRS reports, and SQL SSIS jobs.
Serves as a resource for small application-specific development requests and addresses special requests from Information Services and other computer users.
Assumes responsibility for implementation, development, maintenance and technical support of purchased and custom developed software packages and integrations
Application packaging requirements, configuration, design, and customization for large, complex, or firm-wide applications
Displays integrity, quality service and a "can do" attitude to internal members/departments of the Firm
Scope business requirements for new or existing business systems
Utilize scripting languages for automation application development and maintenance.
Work with attorneys and staff to support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to business systems and desktop applications
Prepare track and update accurate technical documentation of user needs, program functions, and maintenance processes.
Five (5) plus years of work experience preferred
Collaboration with User Experience Team, Help Desk, and Engineering Team
Five (5) plus years of experience with Windows Desktop, Server OS experience, and Active Directory
Knowledge and understanding of applications installations and how this extends to Citrix/VDI environment
Extensive Knowledge of standard Legal applications including DMS systems (netdocuments preferred), Windows 10, O365, Word templates and numbering schemes with Litera Forte, Document repairs and cleaning with DocXtools, Email scrubbing, Contact Resource Management systems, Microsoft Teams, OneNote, and SharePoint)
Deep understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
Working technical experience in crafting, building, installing, configuring and supporting SQL database servers
Knowledge of scripting with Powershell, VBS, and Visual Studio
Troubleshoot and solve third level support calls escalated from the Help Desk
Ability to work successfully and independently in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures
Administering applications within various operating systems (Windows, iOS, Citrix)
Experience with mobility devices (iPhone, iPad, Surface, Android Laptop) and related apps
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or relevant equivalent work experience required
Seven (5) plus years of experience implementing, administering and supporting multiple
Seven (5) plus years of experience with Windows Server technologies, with an advanced understanding of these areas: Computer Networking, Active Directory, File Shares/Permissions, Windows registry, Common Windows Runtimes, Database Systems
Five (5) plus years of experience reading and writing Windows scripting technologies (i.e., PowerShell) and other command line interface technologies
Three (3) years of law firm application development/support experience
Advanced DMS experience (Certification or Specialized training preferred)
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Apps (including Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
Project Management experience a plus
Experience in a law firm or professional services environment a plus
Experience with Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services) and Microsoft SQL Server
Experience using SCCM for application deployments and upgrades
Experience using SCOM for monitoring, and system health checks
Hands-on experience with remote access and mobile computing solutions
