Troutman Sanders is seeking a CLE Specialist to join our collaborative talent management team. Reporting to the Director of Professional Development, the CLE Specialist will manage all aspects of the firm’s CLE programming. In addition to the Director of Professional Development, this position will work closely with the Attorney Training & Development Manager. This position may be based in any of the firm’s offices.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage firm-sponsored CLE programs (for firm lawyers and clients) and maintain calendar of training programs.
Determine CLE accreditation of firm-sponsored courses in approved jurisdictions based on a review of relevant CLE rules and program materials; prepare applications for CLE credit for individual programs in other jurisdictions as needed.
Maintain accredited CLE provider status through record-keeping and reporting in compliance with the rules of those jurisdictions and seek accredited provider status in other jurisdictions as appropriate for firm needs.
Use the firm’s CLE tracking system (currently Micron CE Manager) to manage CLE programs and related records.
Award CLE credit for firm-sponsored programs, including issuing certificates of attendance as needed, entering credits in CE Manager, and reporting credit to CLE regulators.
Stay abreast of CLE rule changes and related developments in all relevant jurisdictions globally and develop effective working relationships with CLE regulators in relevant jurisdictions; regularly evaluate CLE procedures, processes, and work flows; recommend and execute changes as appropriate.
Monitor weekly attorney arrivals and departures and update records accordingly.
Work with Director of Professional Development to maintain and grow on-demand library of CLE courses and materials for training purposes.
Manage relationships with training-related vendors including Micron, PLI, Strafford; promote the use of these resources within the firm.
Educate lawyers and relevant staff (including Professional Development, Marketing, and Legal Practice Assistants) on CLE rules, program accreditation requirements, and compliance requirements through various methods including guides, emails, and conversations.
Assist with other firm sponsored training programs including level specific learning academies and practice group trainings.
Update and maintain content related to CLE on firm intranet.
Collaborate with Director of Professional Development, Attorney Training & Development Manager, and Marketing/Business Development to effectively brand and promote the firm’s CLE initiatives.
Other projects as assigned by the Director of Professional Development and Attorney Training & Development Manager.
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college/university required
5+ years of related work experience preferred
Experience with a law firm, law school, bar association, or CLE provider strongly preferred.
Knowledge of CLE rules and regulations in multiple jurisdictions strongly preferred
Proactive approach to assignments and ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to respond to multiple priorities and meet varying deadlines with a client service approach
Ability to work independently and with a team
Advanced organizational and problem-solving skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
Strong knowledge of knowledge management systems (CE Manager or viDesktop preferred)
