Green | Evans-Schroeder (GES) is recruiting to fill a full-time remote immigration attorney position, focusing on immigration court removal defense practice. This senior attorney filling this role with divide their time between (a) mentoring and developing the firm's removal defense attorneys, (b) managing the firm's BIA caseload, and (c) working on higher level research and writing projects, including district court litigation and circuit court appeals.

Summary
Our law firm is seeking to hire a full-time remote immigration attorney who will be responsible for working closely with the partners to mentor and develop the firm's removal defense attorneys, manage the firm's caseload of BIA appeals, and support the firm's circuit court and district court litigation demands. Qualified applicants will have substantial experience in litigating removal defense cases in United States immigration courts and handling appeals at the BIA. Substantial experiene in circuit court appeals and district court litigation is also preferred.
What You'll Do
Stay up to date on substantive and procedural developments in removal-defense law, with special attention to changes affecting immigration court practice in Arizona.
Structure your schedule so you are reasonably available to respond to legal questions from the firm’s removal-defense attorneys as needed.
Work closely with the firm’s partners to ensure that your mentoring time is used efficiently and effectively, with the goal of helping the firm’s removal-defense attorneys become as independent as possible.
Collaborate with the firm's leadership team to identify training and development requirements for the firm's removal defense attorneys.
Managing the firm's BIA caseload, which requires writing and filing appellate briefs and motions to reopen, and maintaining effective communication with clients.
Maintaining a limited caseload of other cases that may be performed remotely, especially circuit court and district court litigation.
Effectively communicate with other attorneys and experts in the field—locally and nationally—to leverage as much knowledge and advice as possible for the benefit of our clients.
Analyze the immigration consequences of criminal convictions by providing “Padilla consults” to criminal defense attorneys.
Perform consultations for potential clients who are interested in the law firm’s service.

What You’ll Bring
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Must be licensed to practice law by the highest court of any state
Minimum seven years’ removal defense experience
Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred but not required

Our law practice focuses on deportation defense and family-based immigration. Our attorneys represent clients with cases in the Arizona Immigration Courts, and before all components of the Department of Homeland Security. We also have a robust immigration appellate practice, and our attorneys argue cases at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals several times a year.
